Sporting fun!
This term has been very sporty!
On Thursday the whole school took part in our ‘walk a mile’! At Burrington we are committed to promoting an active lifestyle both at school and at home. Before we set off the children talked about the physical and mental health benefits of walking.

Cherry and Birch had a fantastic morning participating in a Physical Literacy Workshop with North Somerset Schools PE Association. The games and activities were such fun, and even though scores were not recorded they all enjoyed improving their personal bests as the morning progressed.
Maple class took part in a Playground Leaders workshop with North Somerset Schools PE Association. They spent time thinking about what makes a good leader, how playground games can be inclusive and what could be improved within our own playground. After trying out their newfound skills on each other, they have decided to start The Maple Monday Movers Club. Members of Maple class will take it in turns to run playground games for KS1 each Monday lunchtime!

Oak class took part in Somerset Cricket Foundations ‘Stumpy’ Programme. Using experiences from the players careers, and Stumpy the mascot it aims to “give children the confidence to be themselves”. The children had six lessons which each had a different focus and were split into two parts; a 45 minute classroom lesson and a 45 minute cricket session.
