Burrington Primary School

Extra-Curricular

There is a wide variety of club activities for children to join.

They are held either at lunch time or after school.

The clubs may change from term to term although some may run for the whole year. The majority of the clubs are run by school staff but often we have visiting specialists, for example, athletics coaching from Somerset coaches. Our current clubs:

KS2

Netball, Hockey,  Football, Drama, Choir, Glass Painting, ICT,  maths, Bible, Eco warriors

KS1

Handchimes,  Singing,  Construction, Football (Y2), Bible, Eco warriors

All children are expected to make a commitment to a club for at least a term.

We also look for opportunities for our children to try different sports and activities.

Recently Class 3 had the chance to try Tri-golf and all KS2 received coaching from Bristol Rugby.

We enter lots of local cluster and regional events especially in music and sport.  We recently represented North Somerset at tennis and won the regional Future Schools Rugby tournament.

We have an annual residential camp.  In 2016 Y5 and 6 visited Folly Farm and learnt about nature including observing badgers and making underwater films.

In 2017 we are planning for all year groups from Y3-Y6 to camp with Mendip Outdoor Pursuits and take part in abseiling and caving.  This will be the second time we will take part in this great experience.
